Stress is a function of uncertainty?

Finally, it arrives, the moment we’ve been anticipating, and quietly fearing, all along.

And yet, just before it happens, a strange calm sets in. The imagined uncertainty fades, even though real uncertainty still lingers, as it always does.

So why do we spend so much energy stressing about it long beforehand, also now and then? Because that’s when everything feels more uncertain?
